AUDIO ENTERTAINMENT DISTRIBUTION EQUIPMENT

The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description as a replacement for MIL-A-17053E (SHIPS) which is cancelled.

Abstract.

This Commercial Item Description covers requirements for an audio entertainment distribution system that incorporates paging features. Integral components include a central switching/control/amplification equipment complex plus remote output station equipment that drives headphones and speakers. The system is intended for use to distribute audio entertainment programs and paging announcements to speakers at group listening stations and to headphone jacks for use at personal listening stations.

Salient characteristics.

1. Audio program inputs. The audio entertainment distribution system shall accept a minimum of eight stereo audio program inputs unless otherwise specified in the contract or order. The equipment shall accept program inputs provided in a standard EIA SE-104 line-level format.
